DIVISION

Guidelines

The Fitlife Throwdown is a one day, same sex pairs event with two divisions, 'Novice' ideal for those newer to competing or still building confidence and 'Open' for athletes with solid training experience who want to push themselves.

Our event is designed for everyday athletes who train hard, love functional fitness, and want to throw down in a high-energy, community-driven environment. Whether you're stepping into your first comp or looking for your next challenge, this event is for you!
And the best part, you get to do it with a buddy!

NOVICE

Division

This division is for you if you're a first time competitor or new to competing. You want to have fun but also give something completely new a go. This division is a good challenge but without the really heavy weights or technical elements. You're here for the good times and post workout burger!

This division is perfect for someone coming from a functional fitness background who wants to push themselves out of their comfort zone. It is our entry level division.

Please note, if you made it onto the podium in Novice, you cannot re-enter into this category.

OPEN

Division

This division is for you if you have previously entered into competitions before. A step up from our beginner level Novice category, this division is for pushing yourself a little further out of your comfort zone. This is a perfect division if you do a bit of Crossfit or functional training in your current training programme and work at a scaled to intermediate level.

Frequently Asked Questions

01. What is our refund policy?

By making payment, teams acknowledge that entry fees are non-refundable regardless of the circumstances.
If a change or transfer is requested and approved by the Fitlife Throwdown organisers, the following admin fees will apply:

  • Before 1st October: Transfer to another team – $25

  • 1st – 31st October: Transfer to another team – $75

  • 1st – 7th November: Transfer to another team – $125

  • After 7th November: No transfers will be accepted.

04. What information do we need for registering our team?

To register, have the following details ready:

  • Team name

  • Full names of both teammates

  • Email addresses for both teammates

  • Emergency contact name and number for both teammates

07. Will the event take place if it is raining?

Absolutely. Rain, hail, or shine — we’re on!
We’ve got a great indoor turf if weather is rough.

Tip: November weather can be unpredictable — bring warm layers or blankets for between events.

02. What do I do if my teammate can no longer make it?

We get it — life happens. You’ve got two options:

  1. Find someone to replace them.

  2. Transfer your team registration to another team (pending confirmation by the organisers).

If you find a replacement, changes can be made via Competition Corner (only the team captain can make changes until 7th November 2025).

  • If the team captain is the one leaving, a $25 admin fee applies. Email: liv@fitlife.training

  • To transfer to another team, email us. Admin fees will follow the refund policy above. Priority will be given to wait listed teams.

No changes can be made after 7th November.

05. What do I need to bring on the day?

Bring whatever you’d like, but here’s what we recommend:

  • Workout gear (knee sleeves, skipping rope, chalk, towel, etc.)

  • Warm layers for between events

  • Water bottle + reusable coffee cup

  • Food (lunch/snacks)

  • Friends or family for cheer support

  • Fresh socks (you’ll thank us later)

  • Towel and change of clothes (showers are onsite)

  • Slides or crocs for comfort

  • Eye mask + noise cancelling headphones if you plan to rest

  • Optional: Deck chair or pillow for extra comfort

08. Is there parking at the venue?

Yes! Free parking is available at the venue through Gate One on Somme Road, Trentham.
There’s also free on-street parking.

03. Can I change my team name?

Absolutely! If you want to sign up now and decide on a name later — that’s totally fine.
Just remember: two teams can't have the same name, so if your chosen name is already taken, you’ll need to come up with a new one.

You can change your team name via Competition Corner.
👉 Only the team captain (the person who signed you up) can make changes.

All name changes must be made before 7th November 2025.

06. Do both athletes need to be at Athlete Registration?

Yes. Both teammates must check in together to compete. Bring valid ID.

09. How do I find out the start time and heat times on the day?

All event info and heat times will be:

  • Sent via Competition Corner

  • Available prior to the event day

  • Shared at the onsite info desk for any questions
